Cardano ADA Surges 19% as Dijkstra Era Drives Network Growth
Cardano's ADA rallied by 19% this week as the blockchain entered its Dijkstra development era, marking a significant milestone in its growth. This move into the new development phase is expected to drive further growth and adoption for Cardano.
The Dijkstra era allows for direct funding of core development through the Cardano treasury, providing more flexibility and control over the network's future direction. Meanwhile, developers continue working on the Ouroboros Leios upgrade, which aims to increase transaction capacity and support higher network throughput.
Market activity also strengthened alongside these developments, with daily trading volume increasing by 78% and reaching $747 million. Large holders, or 'whales', accumulated over 240 million ADA during this period, while futures activity climbed sharply with a weekly trading volume of nearly $650 million.
The rally has pushed Cardano's decentralized finance (DeFi) activity higher, but the network still lags behind larger layer-1 blockchain ecosystems. Expectations for future Federal Reserve rate cuts and the proposed spot ADA exchange-traded fund deadline on October 23 will also continue to influence market sentiment.
