Cardano Advances Quantum Security Measures with Community Review Proposals
Cardano is taking steps to protect its ADA wallets from potential quantum attacks. Two proposals, CIP-0197 and CPS-0034, have entered formal community review as part of the network's preparations for a quantum-era security.
CIP-0197 focuses on developing a defense against future quantum-computing threats by allowing users to prove ownership using zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs derived from their wallet seed. This alternative authentication mechanism aims to prevent public-key exposure, which could compromise funds protected by conventional cryptography.
The proposal is currently under review and has not been implemented. Its security benefits would depend on the final design, implementation, and cryptographic assumptions adopted by Cardano. The network is also researching quantum-resistant approaches at the protocol level, as seen in proposals like CPS-0030, which examines quantum-secure settlement.
