Cardano Anchors 500K Supply Chain Records in Compliance Push
Cardano has partnered with Brazilian blockchain firm Blockforce to develop a supply chain verification system that anchors records onto the Cardano blockchain.
The platform, which has already processed over 500,000 records from Brazilian exporters, aims to solve the problem of proving compliance with EU regulations on deforestation in industries such as fashion and leather goods.
Azzas 2154, Latin America's largest fashion conglomerate, is using the system to trace its leather supply chain across 6,200 suppliers. The platform uses a dual-ledger architecture, with commercially sensitive data stored on a permissioned Hyperledger Fabric network and cryptographic proofs of records stored on Cardano's public blockchain.
The cost economics are notable, with Blockforce achieving a 92% reduction in per-record anchoring costs using a batching protocol called uVerify. The contracted volume between the parties stipulates 6.5 million records by 2030.
