Cardano Cuts Smart-Contract Costs While Chainlink and AlphaPepe Fuel DeFi Growth
Cardano's latest update, Protocol Version 11, has introduced several improvements to its smart-contract execution costs. According to the source, the update was ratified by the community through the Voltaire governance process and includes new Plutus built-in functions that make smart-contract execution more efficient.
The reduction in smart-contract costs is significant because DeFi depends on repeated interactions. Users supply liquidity, borrow assets, trade tokens, claim rewards, and move capital between applications. Expensive execution can make these activities unattractive, particularly for smaller retail positions.
Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is also expanding, allowing applications and institutions to move data and value securely across blockchain networks. This becomes increasingly important as tokenized assets and financial applications spread across multiple networks.
