Cardano developers are racing towards the September 1 planning deadline for the Dijkstra upgrade. This major update will focus on testing, ecosystem readiness and support for alternative node implementations.

The first phase of the Dijkstra upgrade, which is scheduled to be completed in Q4 2026, will introduce Linear Leios and Nested Transactions. These new features will increase transaction throughput by adding Endorser Blocks while retaining the Praos security model.

Additionally, Phase 1 will bring updates to PlutusV4, including changes to transaction data structure and protocol settings. This is expected to prepare Cardano for future upgrades, specifically Peras.
