Cardano Foundation Teams Up with UNDP for Third SDG Blockchain Accelerator Cohort
The Cardano Foundation has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme's Alternative Finance Lab to run the third cohort of its SDG Blockchain Accelerator. This program matches UN development challenges with blockchain-based solutions, aiming to drive meaningful impact. Over the past two years, previous cohorts have produced 46 implementation-ready solutions, with a remarkable 70% of them integrated into national or regional programs.
The focus areas for the 2026 cohort include digital payments, identity management, supply chain traceability, and data privacy. After the application window closes in September 2026, selected teams will enter a five-month acceleration phase where they'll build and refine their solutions with direct input from UN development practitioners. Deployment and scaling are expected to follow after this window closes in February 2027.
One notable success story from earlier cohorts is Plastiks, a platform focused on verified plastic recovery. This has run pilots with UNDP support in Armenia, El Salvador, India, and Zambia, providing an auditable trail for waste recovery credits via the blockchain layer.
