Cardano Futures Reach Six-Month Mark, Boosting ETF Hopes
The Cardano (ADA) futures market has reached a significant milestone as it approaches six months of trading on the CME Group, which could pave the way for a faster review process by the SEC for Grayscale's pending spot Cardano ETF.
CME launched ADA futures on February 9th, and this development is crucial because the SEC's generic listing standards allow a crypto asset to qualify for a spot ETF if it has traded on a regulated futures market for at least six months. August 9th marks the end of those six months, removing one key eligibility hurdle for a spot Cardano ETF.
However, this milestone does not guarantee approval, as there are other regulatory issues surrounding Cardano, including its classification as a security by the SEC in previous lawsuits against Coinbase and Binance. Grayscale's filing for the Grayscale Cardano Trust ETF (GADA) also highlights the risks linked to future regulatory changes.
