Cardano Governance Crisis: Hoskinson vs. Cyber Capital's Justin Bons

Cardano's governance has erupted into controversy as Justin Bons called for Charles Hoskinson to be removed from the project. The dispute began on Discord over a proposal by Hoskinson to move some governance discussions to a moderated server, which Bons claims could give IOHK-aligned groups control over which arguments reach delegated representatives before on-chain votes.

Bons criticized IOHK's delivery on scaling, stating that Cardano's maximum capacity is around 23 transactions per second in 2026. He also attacked Hoskinson for backing the Discord proposal, saying it would place debate in a controlled space. Supporters of Hoskinson argued that Bons was spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) during a sensitive governance phase.

The clash reflects a longer tension between open debate and organized governance on Cardano. Since Voltaire, the network has tried to move decisions toward formal community votes, but critics still question adoption, transaction capacity, and whether Ouroboros Leios can ease these concerns.
