Cardano Governance on Brink of Collapse as Vote Deadline Looms
Cardano's governance is facing a crucial test as it approaches the September 1 deadline to validate four new members for its Constitutional Committee. The current members of this committee are set to leave their positions, and if the vote does not meet the required threshold, the committee will shrink from seven to three members.
The vote requires at least 67% approval from the DReps, but they have only reached 41.7% so far, leaving a significant gap of 25.3 points. Similarly, Stake Pool Operators need to reach 51% support, but their current level is just 12%, with a substantial difference of 39 points.
Cardano's next major technical evolution, the Dijkstra era, is already underway, and governance must support this schedule. The network has designed its system to prevent a single entity from dominating decision-making, and this includes gathering enough votes when needed. If the vote expires without validation, it could slow down the progress towards the Dijkstra era.
