Cardano Governance Shakeup as EMURGO Resigns from Intersect Board
The Cardano governance structure has undergone significant changes following EMURGO's resignation from the Intersect board of directors. The decision comes after intense debate within the ecosystem regarding the role of delegated representatives and the performance of the ADA token on the network.
One community member, Dori, publicly resigned as a Delegated Representative (DRep) and shared his concerns about EMURGO's involvement in the Yoroi wallet. He pointed out that the interface and design may have led users to delegate their voting rights to EMURGO's DRep involuntarily.
EMURGO was one of the three foundational pillars of the network, alongside the Cardano Foundation and Input Output. The company's resignation from the Intersect board places the decision-making structure in the spotlight, particularly with regards to the management of core repositories and protocol upgrades.
The price of ADA has broken above a long-term descending trendline, and market data suggests that the total value locked (TVL) in the network's DeFi ecosystem increased by over 9% in the past week, reaching nearly $68 million. However, technical analysis notes that the asset's overall structure could remain within a smaller-scale bullish cycle or a temporary correction.
As the community continues to oversee the reorganization of working committees within Intersect, the sustainability of the current trend will be closely monitored in upcoming weekly closes.
