Cardano Hard Fork and Midnight Network Launch Confirmed by Charles Hoskinson
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has confirmed that the network is on track for a hard fork next month. This development comes as part of the protocol's ongoing upgrades, including the highly anticipated Leios scalability upgrade.
Hoskinson framed the coming weeks as a convergence of two parallel tracks, protocol and developer-stack upgrades on one side, and the launch of the Midnight network on the other.
The founder also touched on ecosystem developments, highlighting the recent integration with LayerZero, which connects Cardano to over 80 blockchains. Additionally, he mentioned the stablecoin-like asset USDCx, designed for non-EVM systems, citing its ability to preserve 'privacy' and avoid freezing as key benefits.
Hoskinson expressed satisfaction with the pace of progress on Leios during a discussion with product manager Michael Smolenski. He also flagged additional near-term milestones, including a new Plutus version and the integration of Pyth as a 'tier one Oracle' for Cardano.
