Cardano Joins Mastercard's Crypto Partner Program for Global Payments Push

The Cardano Foundation has made a significant move by joining Mastercard's Crypto Partner Program. This partnership will enable the foundation to engage with other participants working on cross-border money movement, B2B transactions, and settlement.

According to an X post from the Cardano Foundation, this milestone is another step towards connecting public blockchain infrastructure with global payments.

In a separate development, Cardano's agentic economy has seen progress. Masumi, a part of the x402 repository, has been integrated into official packages, making it easier for AI agents to transact on Cardano.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson discussed the potential of agentic systems in finance at the 2026 Wyoming Blockchain Symposium. He believes that blockchain can provide the necessary layers for AI agents, including privacy, identity, payments, and control.

The Cardano scaling upgrade has also made remarkable progress. Leios node peaking at 250 TxkB/s (~1,000 simple 250-byte transactions per second) on a local cluster with emulated round trip times has been achieved by developers.
