Cardano Positioned as Potential Driver of Bitcoin's Next Growth Cycle
Cardano's founder Charles Hoskinson believes that the next major growth opportunity for Bitcoin could come through his own project. According to him, Cardano's architecture allows it to support Bitcoin in a non-custodial and trustless manner while maintaining tax neutrality.
Hoskinson emphasized that this is difficult to achieve on account-based blockchains like Bitcoin's current infrastructure. He highlighted Midnight, Cardano's privacy-focused sidechain, which could enable private Bitcoin lending and other decentralized finance applications without exposing users' holdings or transaction history.
The upcoming Leios upgrade on the Cardano network is expected to increase transaction throughput by roughly 60 times while enhancing scalability and interoperability, making it stronger for defi and institutional adoption. The upgrade also includes an on-chain governance system that enables the community to approve protocol upgrades through voting.
