Cardano Smashes Decentralization Record with Record-Breaking Nakamoto Coefficient
Cardano has achieved a significant milestone in its decentralization journey by recording its highest-ever Nakamoto Coefficient, a key measure of how widely control is distributed across a blockchain network. According to data shared by blockchain analytics platform Chainspect, Cardano's Nakamoto Coefficient climbed to 16, setting a new all-time high for the network.
This achievement indicates that influence over the network is becoming more distributed rather than concentrated in the hands of a small group, strengthening the network's resistance to censorship. Analysts view this as a key indicator of long-term security and resilience.
Notably, Cardano has been one of the stronger performers in an otherwise uneven altcoin market, with its price surging more than 20% over the past week. The token recently climbed to $0.199, its highest level in about a month, after hitting a low of $0.153 in July.
However, the recovery has not been accompanied by a broad return of smaller holders. According to blockchain data, Cardano currently has 7,070 fewer non-empty wallets than it did two months ago.
