Cardano Surges 8% as Dijkstra Era Development Begins
Cardano's ADA token has seen an 8% price jump in the past 24 hours, climbing to around $0.20. This marks a significant milestone for the cryptocurrency as it breaks above the psychological $0.20 level.
The recent surge can be attributed to a series of network upgrades, including the successful activation of the Van Rossem hard fork on July 18. The upgrade introduced improvements to Plutus smart contract execution, ledger consistency, and node security, addressing several performance bottlenecks.
According to Intersect, development of Cardano's next major protocol phase, the Dijkstra era, has officially started. This will be introduced through multiple releases rather than a single network upgrade. The roadmap includes Nested Transactions, Linear Leios, and Peras, three technologies developed under the Ouroboros Leios research initiative.
Cardano has also made significant strides in governance development, with a new parameter update action open for community voting. The Constitutional Committee election is now taking place entirely on-chain, and the Constitutional Amendment Portal has entered community alpha testing.
The treasury model remains another key component of Cardano's long-term development strategy, allowing ADA holders to participate directly in funding future ecosystem development through on-chain governance.
Interoperability has also become a major focus for Cardano, with the activation of the first Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) testnet connection between Cardano and Injective. This creates a trustless bridge between the two networks, allowing assets to move without centralised intermediaries.
