Cardano Surpasses Solana in Blockchain Development Rankings

The Cardano ecosystem has made significant strides in recent times, surpassing Solana to claim the second spot in blockchain development. According to Chainspect's data, Cardano has 42 active developers over the past 30 days, narrowly trailing Ethereum's 460.

This achievement is backed up by hard numbers, with Chainspect's all-time cumulative count placing Ethereum first near 11,130 developers, Solana second near 10,865, and Cardano sixth around 3,768. Over 300,000 commits have been logged in the process.

The timing of this achievement is also significant, as it coincides with the activation of the Van Rossem hard fork on July 18, 2026. This upgrade brought several improvements to the protocol, including Plutus improvements and better performance for smart contracts.

Cardano's price has also seen a boost, rising by 0.87% over 24 hours to $0.184. The token broke above its 200-day simple moving average near $0.17, which often marks a shift in trend structure. Large holders have been accumulating ADA, buying more than 240 million tokens inside a single week.

Looking ahead, the Cardano ecosystem is gearing up for the Dijkstra era upgrade, which aims to push transaction throughput far beyond current levels. Supporting work is already underway, with Leios prototype testing continuing and Mithril development advancing.
