Cardano Treasury Allocation Drives 11% Surge in ADA Price
Cardano's ADA token surged 11% on August 16 after the project announced a major treasury allocation to support ecosystem growth. The 120 million ADA allocation, valued at around $21.3 million, will be disbursed over the next 12 months as part of the Cardano Prime program.
The new initiative features staged payments, audits, and refund conditions to ensure effective fund use. This move is seen as a key step in accelerating growth in DeFi (Decentralized Finance) on the Cardano network, which has been expanding its capabilities with recent upgrades.
As of now, ADA/USD trades above its 20-day and 50-day moving averages but remains below the 200-day average. This indicates short- to medium-term bullish momentum but ongoing long-term pressure from sellers. Momentum readings are mixed, with MACD suggesting strong buy momentum but ADX reading at 14.159 signaling neutral trend strength.
For near-term levels, the immediate ceiling sits at $0.209 and the floor at $0.198, with distant overhead resistance from the 200-day average confirming the prevailing longer-term bearish alignment. The current price is around $0.215, up $0.02 or 11.02% with an upside gap of about 3.89%, and trades near the high for the day.
