Cardano Unveils Cardano Lightning for Fast, Fee-Free Transactions

Cardano has announced the launch of Cardano Lightning, a new state channel system inspired by Bitcoin's Lightning Network. Currently in pre-production, this innovation enables fast, bidirectional payment channels that allow two parties to transact directly with low or zero fees, without risking funds.

The technology is built on a fork of the Lightning Development Kit and includes a Rust relay and Cardano smart contracts to manage liquidity and communication. This development aims to expand Cardano's payment capabilities by connecting channels into a network for efficient routing beyond direct connections.
