Cardano Unveils Dijkstra Era Hard Fork Roadmap with End-2026 Code Development Deadline
Cardano (ADA) has announced its hard fork roadmap for the 'Dijkstra Era', marking the next major technical transformation of the Layer-1 blockchain network. The roadmap, published through Cardano's official channels, outlines a multi-phase upgrade process with a focus on completing core software development by the end of 2026.
The first phase involves upgrading the Cardano protocol to version 12 and deploying new features that aim to improve network performance, scalability, and future governance mechanisms. Developers also plan to implement significant innovations in Cardano's consensus mechanism through an internal hard fork in the second quarter of 2027.
The Ouroboros Peras update is a key component of this upgrade, intended to speed up transaction finalization and enhance user experience. Notably, community approval will be required under Cardano's on-chain governance mechanisms for the mainnet update to take place.
