Cardano Unveils Two-Phase Roadmap for Dijkstra Upgrade
Cardano is gearing up for a major network evolution under its upcoming Dijkstra era. The rollout of this upgrade will be structured into two phases, which are expected to take place in Q4 2026 and Q2 2027 respectively.
The first phase focuses on Ouroboros Leios, which targets increased transaction-processing capacity through Supplementary Endorser Blocks. This architecture introduces additional blocks that can help the network process transactions more efficiently and increase overall throughput.
Phase 1 will also introduce several protocol improvements, including nested transactions, guard scripts, enhanced account addresses, and a simpler method for withdrawing staking rewards. However, these changes must first go through testing and governance before being deployed on the mainnet.
The development team has launched the public Ouroboros Leios testnet, Musashi Dojo, to give developers and network participants an environment to evaluate the technology ahead of broader deployment.
