Cardano's ADA Price Jumps on Dijkstra Roadmap, But Will It Ship Quickly Enough?
Cardano's ADA price jumped nearly 10% to $0.189 after the release of its Dijkstra roadmap, but traders should be cautious not to confuse a roadmap with an actual shipping date.
The roadmap outlines two phases: phase one will introduce the Dijkstra ledger era in the fourth quarter of 2026 and target code completion, while phase two is set for the second quarter of 2027, when Ouroboros Peras will be activated. However, these dates do not include Preview and Pre-production rollouts, stake pool testing windows, or on-chain governance ratification by DReps.
The key to the roadmap is Leios, which will enable block producers to publish larger Endorser Blocks alongside regular Praos blocks, with a stake-based committee certifying those blocks before their transactions enter the ledger. This could lead to a 10x to 65x throughput increase, as Input Output has proposed.
Musashi Dojo, the public Leios testnet, is currently in its final phase and has shown promising results, with a capacity increase of up to 20x by the end of the program. However, traders should be wary of getting caught up in hype and remember that this is still just a testnet.
The Dijkstra roadmap also includes other notable features such as nested transactions, guard scripts, and CIP-181, which removes the DRep requirement for reward withdrawals. These changes may not get the same attention as Leios, but they are still significant improvements to the Cardano network.
