Cardano's Bull Run Faces Reality Check Amid Slumping DeFi Activity
Cardano's ADA token has experienced a 20% price increase over the past seven days, but this rally is being met with caution. According to data from DeFiLlama, Cardano's total value locked (TVL) has fallen by 237 million tokens since January 1, indicating declining DeFi activity.
The decline in TVL is accompanied by a significant drop in decentralized exchange (DEX) volume, which plummeted 98% over the past five days. Additionally, derivatives demand weakened, with open interest falling from $582.14 million to $485.32 million. Austin Campbell, founder of Zero Knowledge, warned that this rally may be an 'easy fade' due to weak fundamentals.
Despite these warning signs, Cardano's price remains within a rising channel, with the upper trendline pointing towards the 200-day exponential moving average near $0.24. However, the divergence between ADA's price and its underlying network trends has widened throughout the year, raising questions about the sustainability of this rally.
