Cardano's Constitutional Committee Renewal Clears Key Thresholds by Slender Margin
Cardano's Constitutional Committee renewal has cleared key voting thresholds by a narrow margin. The committee, which oversees constitutional matters in the Cardano network, faced a crucial vote on September 1. At 09:59 UTC, a snapshot showed DRep support at 69.36%, exceeding the required 67% threshold. SPO approval stood at 51.18%, barely surpassing the 51% requirement.
The renewal's success is attributed to late voting, which moved the proposal above both thresholds. However, this came with a caveat: non-participating stake weighed heavily against passage, highlighting the importance of participation in Cardano's governance model.
With the four committee seats due to lapse on September 6, the renewal's enactment will enable the continuation of essential governance actions. If ratified, the update is scheduled to enact one epoch later at the start of epoch 654.
