Cardano's Constitutional Committee Vote Nears Critical Deadline

Cardano's vote on its Constitutional Committee is nearing its deadline of September 1. The committee-backed governance proposal aims to bring in four elected members before four incumbents leave their positions. However, both voter groups remain far from the required marks, with delegated representatives (DReps) at 41.7% and stake pool operators (SPOs) at 12.0%. This leaves the outcome highly uncertain.

The figures have risen since August 17, when DRep support was at 32.46% and SPO support was at 1.95%. However, even with these increases, both groups still need to meet their respective thresholds of 67% for DReps and 51% for SPOs.

The proposal's failure would leave the committee with only three active seats, two fewer than its current minimum. This could lead to continuity breaks in committee-required actions and hinder ratification processes.
