Cardano's DeFi Sector Plunges Amid ADA Price Rally
Cardano's decentralized finance (DeFi) sector experienced a significant downturn despite the ADA token reaching a 10% price rally. The total value locked (TVL) in Cardano's DeFi ecosystem plunged 16.17% over the past 24 hours, dropping from $64.83 million to $54.35 million.
This decline occurred even as ADA reclaimed the $0.19 level and its price surged by more than 10%. Typically, a strong price rally can boost investor confidence and encourage greater capital inflows into DeFi, but in this case, the opposite trend was observed.
Cardano's stablecoin market capitalization increased slightly over the past week to $67.51 million, while derivatives and perpetual trading activity saw a significant surge of 92.7% to $27.82 million. However, DEX (Decentralized Exchange) activity weakened considerably, with trading volume falling by 63.07% to $5.9 million.
The Cardano community is actively pursuing initiatives to reverse the decline in TVL. One such initiative, AlphaGrowth PRIME, aims to increase Cardano's TVL by more than $200 million within 12 months and has already received a treasury allocation of 120 million ADA.
