Cardano's Dijkstra Era Rolls Out Key Features Through Phased Rollout
Cardano is on the cusp of significant development milestones in the coming months. The Dijkstra era, a major update to the Cardano protocol, will see several key features rolled out in phases. Phase 1, which includes Linear Leios and Nested Transactions, is expected to be delivered to Mainnet by the end of 2026.
The first phase of the Dijkstra rollout is planned in two parts: introducing Linear Leios with Nested Transactions and Peras, respectively. The current objective is to deliver Phase 1 (Nested Transactions and Linear Leios) to Mainnet by the end of 2026, providing an incremental rollout of key Dijkstra capabilities.
Four major node releases are anticipated over the coming months, starting with Cardano-node-11.1.1, expected in early September for Mainnet usage. This release removes the legacy tracing system and fixes known Genesis issues. Cardano-node-11.2 is expected to contain the Dijkstra feature set, ready for testing, but will not be the hard fork release candidate.
Cardano-node-11.3 is targeted as the hard fork release candidate, capable of crossing the hard fork and containing all Dijkstra functionality, including Leios. It is anticipated in the next one to two months. Cardano-node-12.0 will be the definitive hard fork node release, with its launch timeline not yet determined.
