Cardano's ETF Eligibility Clears, But No Trading Today
Cardano's ETF eligibility has cleared its last regulatory prerequisite on August 9, 2026, but it doesn't mean an ETF will start trading today. The six-month seasoning clock required by the SEC for a spot-ADA-ETF filing to be activated has ended, but this is just a procedural door opening.
The SEC's generic listing standards require that a commodity-based trust share must have six months of trading history on a regulated futures market, such as CME. Cardano's futures were launched on February 9, 2026, and the clock has now expired.
This eligibility does not mean an ETF is approved or will start trading today. It means that an exchange can file paperwork to activate a spot ADA listing under the generic standard. Since August 9 is a Sunday, no business action tied to this date can actually happen today.
