Cardano's Hard Fork Scheduled for Next Month Amid Ecosystem Growth
Cardano's hard fork is expected to take place next month, according to founder Charles Hoskinson. In a recent livestream, he confirmed that the network is on track for the upgrade and also provided updates on other developments in the ecosystem.
Hoskinson stated that the hard fork will coincide with the launch of the Midnight network, which he described as 'unusually difficult' to ship. He emphasized that the community is working diligently to complete the necessary tasks.
In addition to the hard fork and Midnight network launch, Hoskinson highlighted several other key developments in the Cardano ecosystem. These include the integration of LayerZero, a project that connects Cardano to more than 80 blockchains, as well as the introduction of USDCx, a stablecoin-like asset designed for non-EVM systems.
Hoskinson emphasized that USDCx provides users with an asset that preserves 'privacy' and 'can't be frozen', which he referred to as 'the best compromise' for a tier-one stablecoin in the ecosystem. He also mentioned that discussions with product manager Michael Smolenski have left him satisfied with the pace of progress on Leios, the long-awaited scalability upgrade.
