Cardano's Leios Testnet Boosts Throughput by Six Times Mainnet Capacity
Cardano's Leios testnet reached an impressive six times the mainnet throughput during its first public phase, handling 18 times the transactions and 3.3 times the data of real mainnet traffic.
The success of Leios is crucial for Cardano as it faces the same block space limits seen across other blockchain networks. Each block can only hold a set amount of data, while demand can rise sharply during major launches, airdrops, and market moves.
Leios was designed to increase capacity without replacing the security model used by Cardano. It works as an overlay on Ouroboros Praos, which remains the main protocol securing the network.
