Cardano's Leios Testnet Hits Six-Fold Throughput Milestone, ADA Price Outlook Improves
Cardano's Leios testnet has achieved a significant milestone in terms of throughput, handling six times the transactions and three times the data compared to its mainnet counterpart. This boost in capacity is crucial for the network as it prepares for increased demand from decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.
The testnet, which ran for 41 days, demonstrated that Leios can handle a large volume of traffic without compromising on security. The developers found and fixed issues through weekly public releases, with no weaknesses identified in the underlying protocol.
Leios was designed to increase capacity without replacing the security model used by Cardano. It works as an overlay on Ouroboros Praos, creating endorser blocks that can carry more transactions and validate them in parallel. This approach is essential for handling higher demand, particularly in DeFi where delays can significantly impact trades and liquidations.
The success of Leios testing could have a positive impact on the Cardano price outlook, but it remains tied to market and technical conditions. As the network upgrade progresses, it will be crucial to demonstrate that the increased capacity can work reliably under real demand.
