Cardano's Sudden Rally Falters on Weak Fundamentals
Cardano's ADA token has surged 20% in just seven days, but experts are questioning the rally's sustainability. Despite the price increase, Cardano's DeFi activity has plummeted, with total value locked (TVL) falling to 272 million ADA from 509 million on January 1. This decline is a stark contrast to the token's recent price rise.
DEX volume has also dropped dramatically, crashing by 98% in just five days. The open interest in derivatives has fallen from $582.14 million to $485.32 million, with futures demand weakening and shorts dominating the market. Austin Campbell, founder of Zero Knowledge, believes that Cardano's rally is an 'easy fade' due to its lack of fundamental value.
The token's chart remains bullish for now, with ADA holding within a rising channel. The upper trendline points towards the 200-day exponential moving average near $0.24, while support sits at around $0.19. However, the divergence between Cardano's TVL and price rise is widening, raising concerns about the token's long-term prospects.
