Cardano's USDM Stablecoin Goes Live on Midnight Network
Cardano's regulated stablecoin USDM has now become the first of its kind to move natively between Cardano-Midnight, marking a significant milestone in cross-chain interoperability.
The integration links the ADA chain's liquidity with Midnight's privacy tools through VIA Labs' cross-chain messaging network, which connects more than 150 blockchains. In celebration, Charles Hoskinson welcomed USDM to its new home chain with a simple message.
This development enables the transfer of USDM between Cardano-Midnight without the need for traditional wrapped bridges, reducing duplicate-token risks associated with older models. Moneta Digital's CEO, Jillian Plomin, noted that this pairing is 'close to inevitable' given Midnight's status as Cardano's partner chain and USDM's role as Cardano's native stablecoin.
The pairing of a regulated stablecoin with zero-knowledge privacy solutions addresses a significant gap in on-chain finance. It enables builders to provide stable value within private settings, bridging the ADA chain's liquidity with Midnight's data protection features.
