Casper Upgrades csprUSD to Enable AI-Powered Payments
Casper, a blockchain network for decentralized applications, has upgraded its csprUSD stablecoin. The update will make csprUSD the standard dollar-pegged stablecoin in the Casper ecosystem and enable payments between AI agents through the x402 protocol.
The launch follows the creation of the x402 Foundation under the Linux Foundation, which includes companies like Visa, Mastercard, Google, Coinbase, Circle, Stripe, AWS, and Cloudflare. The x402 protocol allows AI agents to make automatic online payments directly through standard HTTP requests without relying on traditional payment methods.
The updated csprUSD will be fully compatible with Casper 2.0 and support the CEP-3009 token standard. This enables users or AI agents to sign payment authorizations off-chain, while transactions are completed on-chain. The project also integrates Casper's ProofLayer infrastructure, which creates cryptographic proof for off-chain data.
Casper has recently reduced its minimum transaction fee from 2.5 CSPR to 0.1 CSPR after the approval of CEP-97. Before the Mainnet launch, the new smart contract will undergo an additional security audit.
