Cathie Wood Sees Breakout in Bitcoin vs Gold Ratio
Cathie Wood of ARK Invest is calling for a breakout in Bitcoin relative to gold, citing its correlation with gold as 'very low' by historical standards.
The Bitcoin-to-gold ratio has indeed been rising, currently at a new all-time high. According to the source, on September 11, 2026, one Bitcoin would buy approximately 17.9 ounces of gold.
However, this breakout call comes with some caveats. Over the past year, gold has gained 20% while Bitcoin lost 28%, contradicting Wood's claim of a structural regime shift in favor of Bitcoin.
ARK's thesis on AI and software cycle-driven creative destruction argues that rising counterparty risk will benefit both gold and Bitcoin. This aligns with the current calm macro backdrop, as evidenced by the CBOE Volatility Index at 16.46, below its normal range.
