CCP Games, the studio behind EVE Online, has chosen Sui as its new blockchain partner for the upcoming space survival MMO, EVE Frontier. The move marks a significant departure from the game's previous Ethereum Layer-2 setup.

The core appeal of Sui lies in its architecture, which maps naturally onto EVE Frontier's design philosophy. With an object-centric model and Move programming language, every ship, outpost, and Smart Assembly is a discrete, owned object with its own state and history.

Transaction finality on Sui clocks in as low as 400 milliseconds, and the network processes transactions in parallel rather than sequentially. Sponsored transactions will also be available, allowing EVE Frontier players to avoid gas fees.

The partnership with Mysten Labs, the team behind Sui, is set to provide a more efficient and scalable blockchain solution for the game. This move consolidates the stack into a single execution environment designed for parallel, high-throughput workloads, which is crucial for a game planning to support up to 100,000 star systems.
