CEO Arrested Over Alleged Crypto-Funded Murder-for-Hire Plot
The CEO of Moneyflip LLC, Marcos Arturo Kleiman Tronllan, has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot using cryptocurrency payments.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Kleiman converted $750,000 into cryptocurrency and caused it to be transmitted into an undercover agent's wallet as part of the alleged scheme.
The investigation began with a probe into money exchange businesses operating near the U.S.-Mexico border, where authorities suspected Kleiman used his business to evade Bank Secrecy Act reporting requirements and launder proceeds from drug trafficking through cross-border currency transactions.
Kleiman allegedly agreed to pay $40,000 to kidnap and kill a businessman, delivering two separate cash deposits before undercover agents presented fabricated photographs and a video showing the supposed victim dead. He then completed the arrangement with another cash payment and a USDT transfer into an undercover cryptocurrency wallet.
