CEX Tokens Have Less Than a 1 in 10 Chance of Surviving Their First Year
A new report from CoinGecko has found that only about 10% of tokens listed on major centralized crypto exchanges (CEXs) survive their first year, with nearly 90% falling below their debut price within 12 months.
The research analyzed listing performance across the top 12 CEXs and discovered that while some exchanges like Upbit saw strong short-term results, these advantages quickly fade. After 30 days, just 32% of tokens were trading above their initial price, dropping to 25% after 60 days.
By the one-year mark, fewer than 10% of tokens remained above their listing price on most platforms. The report also highlighted the dominance of stablecoins Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC), which together account for 66.6% of all trading pairs across the surveyed exchanges.
