Chainalysis Challenges $94.7 Million ICE Contract Awarded to Rival TRM Labs
Chainalysis, a prominent blockchain analytics firm, has taken legal action against the U.S. government over a $94.7 million contract awarded to competitor TRM Labs by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The dispute revolves around a sole-source acquisition method used by ICE, which bypassed standard competitive bidding procedures. Chainalysis argues that it possessed the necessary qualifications and experience to compete for the contract but was excluded from a fair evaluation process.
The federal government awarded the contract to TRM Labs on July 1, 2026, with a period extending through June 30, 2027. The agreement provides support to the Homeland Security Task Force National Coordination Center Cyber Disruption Center and includes services such as digital asset transaction tracking, blockchain data analysis, open-source intelligence gathering, and asset seizure and recovery assistance.
The case is ongoing, with a hearing scheduled for September 2 and a requested decision from presiding Judge Stephen S. Schwartz by September 10.
