Chainalysis Flags 7,700 Suspect Accounts in Global Crypto Probe
Chainalysis, a blockchain analytics firm, has flagged over 7,700 suspect accounts in a global investigation into cryptocurrency activity linked to child sexual abuse material. The operation, dubbed Operation Lighthouse, generated 14,300 investigative leads across 125 countries.
The multi-day operation involved nine law enforcement agencies and more than 13 private-sector and nonprofit partners. Investigators examined 29,120 cryptocurrency addresses and digital identifiers, tracing activity across over 100 platforms and networks.
Operation Lighthouse targeted consumers, vendors, marketplace operators, and administrators linked to suspected networks. The investigation also identified 16 registered sex offenders among the flagged accounts, according to Chainalysis.
