Chainalysis Operation Lighthouse Cracks Down on Crypto-Enabled CSAM Networks

Chainalysis Operation Lighthouse is a major crackdown on crypto-enabled Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) networks. The multi-day operation, led by Chainalysis and involving law enforcement agencies and private-sector entities, flagged over 7,700 suspect accounts across 125 countries.

The initiative generated 14,300 investigative leads, including suspects with direct access to children such as military personnel, law enforcement officers, medical professionals, and educators. Sixteen registered sex offenders were among those identified.

Chainalysis said the operation was successful in disrupting crypto-enabled CSAM networks worldwide by mapping tens of thousands of onchain identifiers back to real platforms and people. This is a significant milestone in the fight against online child exploitation, as it highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and private-sector entities to tackle this issue.

The operation also underscores the need for crypto exchanges and payment services to take proactive measures to prevent illicit activity on their platforms.
