Chainalysis Sues US Government Over $94.7 Million Crypto Contract

Share

Chainalysis Government Solutions has filed a lawsuit against the US government over a $94.7 million contract awarded to TRM Labs by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for analytical support.

The contract, worth up to $94.66 million, was awarded on July 1 and runs through June 30, 2027. It covers forensic software and support for the Homeland Security Task Force National Coordination Center Cyber Disruption Center, including cryptocurrency tracing, blockchain analysis, open-source intelligence, and mapping of criminal networks.

Chainalysis claims that ICE's decision to award the contract solely to TRM Labs was 'arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable.' The company says it submitted its own capability statement before the award was made, but was overlooked in favor of TRM Labs.

The case is set for oral arguments on September 2, with the government asking the judge to issue a ruling by September 10. TRM Labs has intervened in the case on the government's side.
