Chainlink Brings Tokenized Stocks to DeFi Borrowing
Chainlink has enabled decentralized finance (DeFi) borrowing against tokenized stocks of major tech companies, including Apple and Nvidia. Four Coinbase-issued tokens - NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc, and GOOGLc - are now supported by Chainlink's Data Feeds on the Base blockchain.
The tokenized equities represent ownership stakes in these companies and trade under B20 identifiers. They were introduced by Coinbase on August 24th, with each token backed by physical shares secured in isolated custody arrangements managed by Alpaca Securities.
Chainlink's oracle mechanism delivers total return valuations for each token by combining current stock market prices with adjustment multipliers sourced from Coinbase's blockchain-based oracle registry. This infrastructure enables lending platforms to establish borrowing thresholds, monitor position health metrics, and execute liquidation procedures when collateral valuations decline.
