Chainlink Brings Tokenized Stocks to DeFi Lending Protocols
Chainlink has introduced price feeds for four Coinbase Tokenized Stocks on Base, enabling DeFi lending protocols to accept them as collateral. The supported assets are shares in Nvidia, Meta, Apple, and Alphabet, trading under the tickers NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc, and GOOGLc.
The tokens were launched by Coinbase on August 24 through its subsidiary Coinbase Onchain SPV Ltd., registered in Abu Dhabi. Each token is backed one-to-one by a real share held in a segregated custody account through Alpaca Securities.
Chainlink's price feeds report the total return value of each B20 token, adjusting for corporate events like dividends and accounting for changes in deposit ratios over time. This allows lending protocols to determine borrowing limits, track loan health, and trigger liquidations when collateral values fall.
