Chainlink Dominates Oracle Market with $33 Trillion in Cumulative Transaction Value
Chainlink's Chief Business Officer Johann Eid says the company has already 'won' in its mission to bring the global financial system on-chain. Since its inception, Chainlink has listed $33.34 trillion in cumulative transaction value and $48.32 billion in total value secured.
Eid credits the company's decision in 2018 to connect existing finance systems to blockchains as the key factor in their success. This choice was a departure from the idea of rebuilding finance from scratch, which Chainlink deemed too ambitious. Instead, they chose to wire those systems into blockchains directly.
The result is that Chainlink has become the dominant oracle network, with hundreds of chains relying on its services. Eid argues that connecting existing systems to blockchains is harder than launching a new chain, and thus less copyable. He also credits Chainlink's security posture, which prioritizes uptime over flexibility, as a key factor in its success.
Chainlink has made significant strides in the past year alone, with major institutions such as DTCC, Swift, and BNY Mellon adopting their services. The company's CRE (Connector Runtime Environment) is now live, allowing banks and market infrastructures to run workflows built over 50 or 60 years directly on-chain.
