Chainlink Powers Lombard's Institutional Bitcoin Credit Strategy
Lombard, a company that offers Bitcoin Onchain lending solutions, has integrated Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to enable secure cross-chain deposits of BTC.b into its newly launched Bitcoin Onchain Credit Strategy. This strategy allows institutional borrowers, such as Flow Traders, to access stablecoin liquidity from regulated enterprise firms without relying on DeFi incentives or trading activity.
The Bitcoin Onchain lending solution is designed to let Bitcoin holders earn yield from a fixed premium paid by institutional borrowers accessing stablecoin lending. According to Lombard's announcement, the strategy has already attracted Flow Traders as its first institutional participant and is now live with accepting deposits. The company claims that this structure separates the borrower from the collateral provider, allowing regulated enterprise firms to tap onchain credit for the first time.
Chainlink's CCIP plays a crucial role in this integration, enabling secure cross-chain deposits of BTC.b directly from Avalanche into the strategy's Ethereum vault. Lombard selected CCIP specifically for its security architecture, citing 16 independent node operators per bridge lane, built-in rate limits functioning as circuit breakers, and SOC 2 Type 2 compliance.
