Chainlink's CCIP Surges Past $7B in Q2, Driven by Security Concerns
Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) has seen significant growth in Q2, with over $7 billion in token value migrating to its infrastructure. This marks a 353% year-over-year increase in quarterly CCIP volume, reaching $4.90 billion. Several major projects have selected CCIP for their interoperability needs, including Kraken, Mantle, KelpDAO, and Lombard, citing security concerns as the primary driver.
The adoption of CCIP has been driven by a desire to replace legacy bridge infrastructure with more secure alternatives. For example, Lombard Finance adopted CCIP to secure over $1 billion in Bitcoin assets after an exploit involving its previous bridge provider. Kraken selected CCIP for over $330 million in wrapped Bitcoin and future wrapped assets.
CCIP has also expanded its network footprint, adding mainnet support for several new blockchains and tokens, including Robinhood, Tempo, Creditcoin, NeoX, ADI, Edge, and Pharos. The Cross-Chain Token standard gained 84 new assets, including 20 tokens tied to Solana subnet environments.
The Chainlink ecosystem ended the quarter with $110 billion in total value secured, while institutional integrations reinforced the cross-chain narrative. DTCC announced plans to use Chainlink technology in its Collateral AppChain, and Project Pangea brought together over 50 banks representing over $10 trillion in assets under management to explore T+0 foreign-exchange settlement.
