Chartered Sees Fivefold Rise in Sky Token Price
Standard Chartered has made a bold prediction about the future of Sky's native token, SKY. According to Geoffrey Kendrick, the bank's global head of digital-asset research, SKY could rise fivefold by the end of 2028, climbing from its current price of $0.065 to $0.325.
This forecast assumes that Sky will continue to grow through its unique structure, which combines elements of a central bank with decentralized finance (DeFi). The platform issues stablecoins like USDS and DAI, and lends funds to agents at wholesale rates, much like commercial banks do in the traditional financial system.
Currently, Sky's three main agents - Spark, Grove, and Obex - are managing $5.9 billion of borrowed USDS, with a combined borrowing limit of $17.5 billion. Kendrick believes that once Sky secures a sufficient financial buffer, it can increase the share of earnings distributed to token holders, leading to a significant increase in value for SKY holders.
However, Kendrick also warned about a key risk: the possibility that demand for yield-bearing stablecoins may grow more slowly than expected. This could impact Sky's growth and, by extension, the price of its native token.
