Checkout.com Expands Global Reach Through UAE Licence Progress and Coinbase Partnership
Checkout.com has made significant strides in its global expansion efforts, with notable developments in the UAE and US markets. The payments processor has secured in-principle approval from the Central Bank of the UAE for a Stored Value Facilities licence, which would allow it to offer card-issuing capabilities on a single platform alongside acquiring services.
This move is expected to support revenue diversification and deeper customer integration in a market where processing volume rose 62% year-on-year between 2024 and 2025. In the US, Checkout.com has seen a 30x increase in processing volumes and headcount in recent years, with plans to expand its commercial presence in major financial and technology hubs such as New York, San Francisco, and Atlanta.
The company has also deepened its partnership with Coinbase, which now spans over 100 markets and covers payment acceptance, fraud prevention, and card-based payouts. This collaboration has resulted in a 13 percentage point improvement in acceptance rates and a reduction in fraud of more than half, according to Coinbase.
Checkout.com's efforts to strengthen its global payments franchise also include investments in brand positioning through sports and cultural engagement. The company has highlighted its involvement in the ADV Padel Cup and its alignment with the global rise of padel, leveraging associations with prominent athletes and executives to reinforce a modern, globally oriented image.
