Chime's shares surged on the heels of its announced acquisition by Stride and the company's raised guidance, but the gains were short-lived as investors took profits early. The stock had seen a significant price-target hike following the news, which may have contributed to the initial enthusiasm.

The company reported that it has entered into an agreement with Stride, a leading financial technology company, to be acquired by the latter for $14.35 per share in cash. This represents a premium of 29% over Chime's closing price on January 20, 2024.

Chime also announced that it had raised its full-year revenue guidance to $1.2 billion, up from its previous estimate of $1.15 billion. The company cited strong demand for its financial services and the increasing adoption of digital banking as drivers of this growth.
