China's CXMT Hits Capacity Ceiling Amid Prolonged Memory Shortage
ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), a key player in China's memory chip production, has reached its capacity ceiling. According to Omdia, CXMT peaked at approximately 240,000 wafers monthly at the end of last year.
The global memory shortage that prompted CXMT's expansion persists and continues to push prices higher.
Omdia warns that increased Chinese supply is unlikely to ease the market, implying prolonged higher costs and supply risk for crypto mining hardware and data center deployments.
This could hinder adoption of resource-intensive crypto projects, which rely heavily on these components.
